October Haul + Peanut Butter Donuts

Image
Old Navy Super Cash has returned and with it were multiple purchases I made, all due to finding this super cute set for $1.47 (!) in stores for baby A. While in stores, I saw a cute sweater in the girls' department that had me shopping online to meet the free minimum shipping, which led to the bulk of last month's haul. This Wave Break Tie One Piece bathing suit I purchased from Athleta in conjunction with my Old Navy order is my second one piece ever, and I love it! It really is a bit tight and pulls a bit at the shoulders, which is surprising since I already have a short torso, but I don't mind it enough to not keep it because it is super cute and flattering on the body, which is so helpful post-baby. :) I made some Chocolate Peanut Butter Donuts over the weekend, which were a big hit and are super yummy despite being the healthiest donuts I've ever made so I will definitely be keeping this recipe to make again. September Haul + Bermuda

Image
I noticed I definitely increased my shopping in September, which I wonder if it's tied to the changing of the seasons. I attended a Gilt event, which I didn't want to leave empty-handed and ended up purchasing a girls' little red jacket that fit really nicely and would be perfect for the holidays. After that, I went on a shopping binge and ordered a bunch of Maison Jules stuff from Macy's, of which I ended up keeping a good amount of items. I really like their lightweight blazers such as the Maison Jule Open-Front Knit Blazer and Maison Jules Linen Knit Jacket , which fit so well and comfortably and thought the Maison Jules Pull-On Flutter-Hem Shorts were super cute. My favorite purchase is the Maison Jules Hooded Raincoat , which fits well and is made of a really nice water-resistant material. I also placed a random big order on Spring, and ended up keeping a Ralph Lauren sweatshirt and Gymboree tassel bag, which I claim to have bought for baby A

August Haul + Sweet Potato Bread

Image
August was the only month I didn't shop much - I only picked up a pair Zella Turning Point Hight Waist Crop Leggings and my favorite luggage now - the Away Bigger Carry-On , which is affordable and has a built-in charger, which is very useful. Here's a recipe for healthy Sweet Potato Bread, which baby A loved too. :) SWEET POTATO BREAD Ingredients: 1-1/2 cups oat flour 1 cup mashed sweet potato (peel and cube then boil 30 min to mash) 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup applesauce 1/3 cup egg whites 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon salt Directions: 1. Preheat over to 350 degrees. 2. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Trasnfer to loaf pan sprayed with cooking spray. 3. Bake 35 minutes. July Haul + Adult Grilled Cheese

Image
Here is the long overdue haul from July: I celebrated Audrina's first birthday party at my house this year and one of the biggest hits was the Adult Grilled Cheese, which was the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had at the Commodore in Williamsburg, Brooklyn so I was so happy to have come across the recipe in New York Magazine. I loved being able to recreate it for my friends who've never been and can see myself making this again. ADULT GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES (THE COMMODORE) Ingredients: 1 lb. Cheddar cheese, grated 4 oz. cream cheese 6 tbs. mayonnaise 1 tsp. each salt and pepper 2 tsp. lemon juice 4 poblano peppers (to taste), roasted, peeled, seeded, and chopped 20 slices of bread 1 stick of butter Directions: Add all the ingredients (except the bread and butter) to a large bowl, and mix together well. 2. Generously cover a slice of white bread with the cheese mixture, and then cover with another slice. 3. Butter outside of sandwic

Recent OOTDs (Hawaii) + Brined Meat to Grill

Image
Here's are some late OOTDs I was able to snap from the last month or two: Quick photo before heading to work - I always commute in flip flops or other flat sandals or flats and change my shoes at work.  Ready to attend our friend's welcome dinner party in Hawaii! Dress: Forever 21 (old) and Sunglasses: J.Crew (old) Baby A's OOTD in Hwaii! :) My bridesmaid's dress for my dear friend's wedding! Dress:  Adrianna Papell Embellished Blouson Gown (hemmed and shortened) in Taupe/Pink  size 2. I mentioned in the last post that it's still warm enough to grill a few more times but it's definitely getting cold quick. I also made some ribs that were brined first and they turned out really yummy. I know I mentioned a basic brining recipe back in 2014 here but this recipe is great! BRINED MEAT TO GRILL Ingredients: 10 whole chicken legs, 3 racks of pork ribs (spare, St.Louis-style, or baby back, each rack cut in half), or 6 lbs beef short ribs (En

Shopping Lately + Corn with Miso Butter

Image
I've been so busy lately with baby A that everything has fallen by the wayside, though I have been shopping quite a lot lately that may have to do with the changing of the seasons. The hauls for July, August, and September will be posted soon but it's tough with a toddler who sleeps on the bed you take photos on. :) I took a quick trip to Urban Outfitters, where I tried on a bunch of cute stuff that I ended up purchasing online since they didn't have what I wanted in my size in stores. Left to right: Cooperative Tie-Front Striped Mini Dress in Dark Blue size S and Blue & White  XS, Kimchi Blue Rae Poplin Stright-Neck Dress  in XS, Silence + Noise Jackson Strapless Culotte Jumpsuit in Cream Multi XS   I was drawn to the   Cooperative Tie-Front Striped Mini Dress  as soon as I saw it and decided to try it on despite the lack of adjustable straps, which usually means a bad fit since straps are always too long on me. However, these were only a tad too long and the

June Haul + Mommy and Me Adidas EQTs

Image
Now that I have baby A, I can't help wanting to purchase everything I get in kids size in her size too so that we can match, which you can see from the Adidas sneakers in this month's haul: The Adidas EQT Support ADV sneakers were on sale for a great price, so I went in store to try it on and was pleasantly surprised. I'm lucky enough that I fit the size 3 and was able to pick them up for just $27.99 with a coupon code. I can't wait until baby A is big enough to fit them! :) They make my feet look a lot smaller than the Adidas Ultraboost! Close up Mommy and me in a few years! I've also tested them out and they were great for playing handball, unlike the Adidas Ultraboost I mentioned here. Here's also some H&M fitting room photos of some items I thought were really cute, like the bird dress, though I didn't pick it up since I don't have anything to wear it to. Leaving you with the quote of the day, "Opportunity is m

May Haul + Recent Highlights

Image
May's haul is just a legging and pants picked up during a bachelorette trip to Montreal and some items from online shopping: These H&M Wide-cut Shorts  were a steal at $5.99! I've been wearing the London Rebel Flat Leather Mule Sandal s a lot since they're so comfy :) I also picked up an adorable bunny cushion from H&M home for baby A! :) Here's a few snaps from the highlights of the month, including my trips to Montreal and Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard: I picked this up for baby A! The coolest bachelorette activity in Montreal :) Baby A ready for the boat ride Baby A's first boat ride! Family hug Going up the lighthouse! Last time I'll be blonde! Love my Mother's Day present! More Mother's Day goodies :) Love it when brides get matching robes for their bridal party the morning of the wedding!  Leaving you with the quote of the day, "Don't live life in the past l

April Haul + Pizza Dough Recipe

Image
I'm so behind in everything - baby A is starting to become much more mobile so I have less and less time on my hands now. I've also been traveling lately - to Montreal for a bachelorette trip and on road trips to Pennsylvania and Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard with family. I've missed traveling and look forward to our next little getaway. Here's April's haul, which was mostly things picked up while traveling, with the exception of some pieces from the Target Victoria Beckham collection (in kids) and some items picked up from the new Primark in Staten Island. I have to mention that it's been a very long time since I've last owned a pair of Adidas sneakers but since their Ultraboost came out, A has been touting how comfortable they were and kept encouraging me to try a pair until I finally did and I have to admit, they are very comfortable and are more so than some of my Nikes. I ended up getting a really good deal on these  Adidas Pure Boost x Tr
