Cleaning Tips + The Ring

Now that I'm finally moving into my renovated house, I'm on a cleaning kick. I recently read an article on cleaning and realized there have been several mistakes I've been making so want to share some ones I think are important: 1. Don't put a rinsed toilet brush right back in its holder because moisture breeds bacteria so clamp it under the toilet seat over the bowl until it dries before returning it to the holder. 2. Don't scrub stains like pet urine, red wine, and coffee when trying to clean your carpet. As soon as you notice the spill, use a paper towel to sop up as much liquid as possible. Next, douse the spot with club soda or ice water and blot again with another dry towel. Step on the towel to try to absorb as much as you can and repeat the blotting until no more color is transferred to the towel. IF the stain persists, apply a stain remover and repeat the process. 3. Don't spray cleaner directly on a surface and instead spray it in the

Laundry Guide

A lot of my clothes over the last few months has been damaged because I've just been letting A throw everything into the wash and then the dryer while we're temporarily living away from the house. I can't stress enough how much I look forward to moving back in. When I do, I'll be taking much better care of my clothes and want to keep this handy laundry guide available when I need it: STAINS (wash fabrics as recommended after these treatments) Beer: Soak in 2 cups cool water and 1/4 cup white vinegar. Chocolate: Scrape off the excess with a plastic knife or spatula. Spray with a dish-soap solution (1 tablespoon clear soap to 10 ounces water), then dab with an enzyme detergent before washing (most everyday detergents have enzymes). Coffee: Stretch the fabric over a bowl and carefully pour boiling water through the stain from about a foot above. If the coffee had milk in it, follow with an oil solvent, like Carbona Stain Wizard Pre-Wash . If it contain

LOFT + German Chocolate Cake!

I stopped by LOFT to make some returns and couldn't help browsing as usual and tried on their Petite Knit Collar Softened Shirt and have to say I really like their softened fabric. It feels super comfy, though the cut of the shirt is a bit too boxy for my taste. I also tried on their Petite Basketweave Sweater , but isn't as comfy as I like, so passed. Left: Petite Knit Collar Softened Shirt . Right: Petite Basketweave Sweater . The only item I left with were a pair of LOFT's Oversized Mirrored Cateye Sunglasses since they were 50% off in store and I've been wanting reflective sunglasses for a while, so decided to try these out first, which will be perfect for my honeymoon in Bora Bora later this year. :) LOFT Oversized Mirrored Cateye Sunglasses Though I'm still not yet back home, I did bake a German Chocolate Cake over the weekend for my mom & sister's birthday, and I have to say that the 3-tiered cake turned out deliciously so want to share t

Holiday Party + December Haul

Happy New Year! I finally put the gold brocade dress from this post that I bought early this year to good use at my company's annual holiday party. :) I forgot to mention last month that I also purchased the Beaded Crystal Bib Necklace from LOFT , which I'm wearing above. It's my first time wearing it and I'm very happy with how it can dress up an already dressy outfit but also elevates a casual look as well. It's actually just the second statement necklace that I now own, even after writing this post . :) Here's this month's haul and I'm proud to say that I was very close to having nothing to show this month! Left to right: Petite Scallop Lace Peplum Shell , Petite Lou & Grey Pattern Play Jacket , Petite Mosaic Stripe Rib Trim Tank . I couldn't resist the holiday sales at LOFT, which is one of my favorite retailers and am very happy with the pieces I've picked up ( 60% off sale styles now !). The first piece on the left is thei
