July Haul + Skillet Paella

Image
I'm beginning to think I might not be able to refrain from spending on clothing/accessories in a given month. Here's this month's haul: As seen here , I finally got a new phone case to replace my old one and it is the Kate Spade New York Le Pavilion Polka-Dot Resin iPhone 5 Case , which I like a lot. It's much more sturdy and I like that I can see the gold backing through it. :) The few times I've had paella, I wasn't crazy about it but I really do like this recipe for Skillet Paella a lot. :) SKILLET PAELLA RECIPE Ingredients: 4 oz chorizo 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1" pcs 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 medum yellow onion, diced 1 red bell pepper, cut into strips 2 garlic cloves, minced 2 cups white rice (arborio or basmati) 5 cups low-sodium chicken broth 2 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon dried thyme 1 bay leaf 1 cup frozen green peas 1/2 pound medium shrimp, peeled and deveined

Birthday Louboutins + Chicken Parm Sandwiches

Thanks to A's inability to choose presents, he came up with the amazing last-minute idea to buy me a pair of Louboutins. I've never really appreciated this aspect of him until now. :) Decisions, decisions. Dress: ASOS (old), similar here and here . Shoes left to right: Christian Louboutin Gortika Patent Leather Ankle Boots in Nude , Christian Louboutin Bootylili 120mm in Black Calf . To prepare for the store visit, I did some research online and narrowed it down to either a pair of black booties/boots like the Bella Ankle Boot , the Simple 100 Pump in Nude , or the Gortika Patent Leather Ankle Boot in Nude . In store, I fell for both the  Gortika and the Bootylili . Dress: ASOS (old), similar here and here . In the end, I went with the Gortika because A liked them better and they're also seasonal, while the Bootylili will a

Mini Getaway + Scallion Pancakes

What with the packing, moving, and home renovations, July was a very hectic month so my weekend getaway to Pennsylvania was a nice respite. The vast lake The cozy fireplace Gathering wood The most stylish sheep I've ever seen This face! The county fair Beautiful weather for fishing. Not what I wanted to catch :) Since we were in a remote area by a lake, I also planned out all the meals in advance and have to say I really do miss cooking. Here's a recipe for scallion pancakes that I look forward to making again: BRIETTA'S SCALLION PANCAKES Ingredients: 3 cups flour, plus more for rolling 3/4 teaspoons salt 1 cup water, plus more for mixing 1 bunch scallions 1/2 cup vegetable oil Directions: 1. In a large bowl, sitr together the flour and salt, then form the mixture into a mound. Make a well in the center and add the water, first filling the well, then pouring what remains around the sides of the bowl. Use a large

J.Crew XXXS + Schoolboy Blazer Reviews

Image
I first noticed the offering of J.Crew's size XXXS several weeks ago but dismissed it because I assumed it wasn't really a new size but after seeing some controversy about it online, I decided to see for myself since I was picking up their Schoolboy blazer and always check the sales section before checking out. J.Crew Jacquard back-zip sweatshirt When the Jacquard back-zip sweatshirt came in, I fell for the design and hand feel of the fabric - a thick, yet soft, jacquard fabric that's a really pretty color but upon trying it on, I was shocked to realize how it was much too small for me. After struggling to get it fully on, I noticed the length fit great on me but my chest was extremely constricted so that I could barely breathe and it was the same for my arms. I would be able to understand if the arms were too tight since I work out and my arms aren't skinny but I am really not well-endowed (at most a size 32A) so I'm shocked that it's so tight on me th
