Petite Bottoms + L.L. Bean Canvas Bag Review

After doing an overall post on my favorite petite brands and petite outerwear, here's a post on the brands I prefer when it comes to pants and skirts.

I've tried on many brands thus far for pants but lately, I seem to be stocking up the most from LOFT, which I just discovered a couple of years ago. Below are some snaps of my favorite pairs.

Pants from left to right: 7 for All Mankind, ASOS, BCBG, Forever 21, H&M, J Brand, LOFT, Madewell, and Old Navy.
Over the years, my favorite pair of jeans has changed many times but now I find that I don't really wear jeans anymore. I made the transition last year towards wearing mainly black pants instead of jeans now, which has the added benefit of looking polished yet being extremely comfy. I used to have a hard time finding pants that fit but now have no problem at all, knowing what my go-to brands are. The only issue that I have to deal with is hemming the pants, which I have accepted is inevitable unless it happens to be a pair of capris meant to be worn shorter on taller ladies but I luckily have a tailor who does pants hems for $3, though is not reliable for anything else, such as the shortening of sleeves.

With skirts, which are great because they never need any tailoring, I own the most from Club Monaco, Forever 21, and Urban Outfitters. Below are snaps of skirts from my go-to brands:

A wears a polo t-shirt each and every single day to work and he owns every color of the rainbow but he doesn't like to shell out money for clothing so his polo shirts aren't of very good quality, which I care a lot about so I've decided to buy him ones that claim not to shrink, wrinkle, pill, or fade. I first purchased him one from Land's End but wanted to compare it to L.L. Bean's version, which claims the same things. So far, he has worn both a few times and likes both very much. While shopping for him, I found something for myself too when browsing the sale section. I was attracted to the gold hardware on the small Downeaster Sport Canvas Bag so happily added it to my cart. It's a great size for someone my size and has come in very handy on snowy, wintry days when I need to keep my hands free during the commute to work to battle the wind, rain, and snow. It has a cozy plaid lining and can be worn as a cross-body, on the shoulder, or carried by its handles.

  1. Hey,
I came across your blog when I searched a jacket on google images. I can totally relate to petite problems! Quick question, is the yellow skirt above from ASOS still available? Do you happen to have the link or brand and style of it? SO CUTE!

    1. Hi Christine! I love the yellow skirt! :) It's by ASOS and I don't see it available in yellow anymore (I purchased it a year or two ago) but it does seem like they have a cute black & white striped version here:

If you're looking for a yellow one, this one seems similar in structure because what's nice about the one I have on is that it's a thick, sturdy material:

This option here is lighter weight with a similar look:

And lastly, this one looks to be in between the two - not too drape-y and not too structured (but not in yellow):

Hope this helps! Now that I looked those items up, I saw some things I'd like to pick up (never ending cycle) so let me know if you want me to try anything and I'd be happy to review for you.
Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
